Lilly, Dodgers Shut Out Cubs

The Dodgers won their 5th game of the spring, placing them atop the Cactus League standings. The pitching staff picked up its second shutout in three days.

Final Score: Dodgers 5, Cubs 0


-Ted Lilly was much better the second time around, allowing just a hit and a walk during his three frames.
-Veteran relievers Matt Guerrier, Todd Coffey and Mike MacDougal combined for 3 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit in total. Non roster hurlers John Grabow, Alberto Castillo and Will Savage combined for 3 more scoreless frames.
-At the plate, Trent Oeltjen had a pair of hits, including a double. Tony Gwynn singled and had 2 RBI. Justin Sellers, after taking a ball to the face yesterday, bounced back with a pair of walks, one with the bases loaded.


-Tim Federowicz went 0 for 3 and is still looking for his first hit of the spring. Mark Ellis also went 0 for 3. Juan Uribe went 0 for 2, though did reach base after being hit by pitch.

Up Next

The Dodgers head out of Camelback to take on the Angels Monday. Aaron Harang is scheduled to pitch, looking to replicate Lilly's bounceback performance. Game time is 1:05pm PST.
