-Ted Lilly was cruising for three innings agsinst Texas, allowing just one hit. In the fourth, he gave up a few hard hit balls, but luckily for him, they were flagged down on the warning track by Andre Ethier and Juan Rivera, respectively.
-James Loney came up with two men on and launched a home run over the right field fence. It was Loney's first homer of the spring. He added a single.
-Andre Ethier doubled inside third base in the second inning and also drove a ball to the warning track in the third to plate a run. Juan Rivera added two hits as well.
-Matt Kemp struggled, striking out and flying out twice. Dee Gordon singled but was caught stealing for the first time this spring on a very close play. The Ellises each ad a hit, Mark with a double and AJ with a single.
-Relievers Scott Elbert, Javy Guerra, Scott Rice and Wil Ledezma worked a scoreless frame each. Kenley Jansen was the only Dodgers pitcher to struggle, allowing two solo home runs in the 5th inning.
Mattingly on Loney: "He knew he needed a couple of days off. He knew exactly what he needed--you're always kind of searching for the feel--I think he looks good."
Mattingly on Lilly: "His stuff right now is crisper than it was last year, for sure. You just see him down in the strike zone--Teddy looks good."
Mattingly on Ethier: "He's running good. Dre's fine."
The Dodgers play two tomorrow. A split squad will head to Salt River to face off with the Rockies. Then the other split squad faces the Giants at home in the evening.
