Notes

-Tough loss for the Topes, who blew a 3-0 lead and were gifted 3 errors. Scott Van Slyke began 2012 where he left off 2011 with a homer off hard throwing Jeremy Jeffress. Alex Castellanos tripled and stole a pair of bases. He also drew a pair of walks, something to watch for this season. The team was just 1 for 13 with RISP and left a staggering 16 men on base.

-Chattanooga couldn't get any offense going, leaving 7 runners on base and producing a woeful 0 for 10 with RISP. Two of the clubs 5 hits came from Rafael Ynoa, who also stole a base. Allen Webster threw only 39 of his 76 pitches for strikes and was lucky to give up only 2 runs after loading the bases in the 2nd without any damage and having Geison Aguasviva strand runners on the corners in the third.

-A stellar start to 2012 for Zach Lee, allowing just two baserunners in five innings. Too bad the effort was wasted by the pen and the defense. Nick Akins homered while Austin Gallagher, Chris O'Brien and Charlie Mirabal each contributed two hits. Juan Rodriguez took the loss, walking in a run in the top of the 11th with 2 outs. A one out double from Leon Landry in the bottom of the frame was wasted as C.J. Retherford and Austin Gallagher struck out.
