Rangers Winterball Roundup – 12/29

Aguilas Cibaenas reliever Johan Yan earned the save in his club's Dominican Winter League playoff game on Saturday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Dominican Winter League


Making his second appearance in as many days, Aguilas Cibaenas reliever Johan Yan earned his first save of the postseason. The sidearming righty hurled the game's final 1.1 innings, tossing scoreless ball. He didn't allow a hit and walked one without recording a strikeout.



Venezuelan Winter League


Guilder Rodriguez got a rare start for Lara on Saturday, batting leadoff and playing in left field. The veteran utilityman had a strong all-around performance, going 2-for-2 (both singles) with a hit-by pitch and his third stolen base. Rodriguez is now hitting .271 on the campaign.

Magallanes shortstop Elvis Andrus, who is beginning to heat up late in the regular season, had a single and two walks in four plate appearances.

Aragua second baseman Yangervis Solarte singled once and walked once in four trips. He also committed his ninth error.



Mexican Pacific League


Guasave catcher Jose Felix, who batted ninth on Saturday, held his batting average at a steady .326 by going 1-for-3.



Puerto Rican Winter League


Leones de Ponce corner outfielder Jared Hoying whiffed three times on Saturday, but he also singled twice in five at-bats. He's now batting .235 on the winter. Catcher Zach Zaneski was 1-for-5, striking out twice.



Australian Baseball League


No Rangers appeared in Australia on Saturday.
