Dodger Farm Report August 16th

Masao Kida has had more medical problems than a guest star on "E.R." Those, he maintains , may delay his return to the bog leagues but ultimately will not deny. Maybe, but he certainly was convincing Sunday.

Kida, who overcame arm problems and a severe car accident before to make it up , was put down for the early part of this season with back problems. That he's overcome that was evident as he pitched Las Vegas past Sacramento 6-3. The 35-year-old Japanese right-hander, who now has a 2-1 record, went seven strong innings, scattering seven hits , holding the River Cats to a single run over that span as he struck out six while walking only one.

Jason Repko blasted his seventh home run , a three-run shot , to break the game open . Antonio Perez contributed a double and two singles and Luis Garcia , a double and single. Troy Brohawn picked up the final two outs for his fifth save. The 51's trail by 13 games in the PCL South.

Elsewhere , there was a light schedule.

JACKSONVILLE 6, Tennessee 1.
Willie Aybar sent a mighty shot completely out of the park for his 14th home run . He also singled to wind up with five RBI for the afternoon. Shane Victorino led off with his 12th dinger, then later added a double. Eric Hull (3-3) won for the first time since June 2 , holding the Smokies to four hits and a lone run in five innings. The Suns are 12 1/2 back in the Southern League East.

COLUMBUS 10, Lexington 6.
The Catfish were down by six as starter Julio Pimentel was ripped for four of those but rallied to tie at the end of regulation. They then came up with four in the top of the 10th for a victory that left them 4 1/2 behind in the SAL South. Jimmy Rohan did the big hitting with a triple, double, and single. Luis Jimenez 's 20th home run tied the score in the ninth. Albenis Castillo held the Legends scoreless over the final two innings for his first decision since coming up from Ogden.

VERO BEACH, OGDEN and the GCL DODGERS
were not scheduled.
