While Bill Shelley is on medical leave, we continue our series, taking a look at his top Dodger prospects as we count down to the very best. Today- Prospect #38, RHP Tim Sexton.

Picked by the Dodgers in the 25th round choice (#26th selection), Tim Sexton out of Miami-Dade CC didn't sign until the middle of August, then he received a $123,000 bonus, which is sixth round money. But despite the higher cost, the 6-6, 186 pound righthander was certainly worth the money. He went in the 25th round because because of concerns about his signability and both his talent and his rookie season performance made it obvious that he was more than a late pick.

Sexton made his professional debut on August 13 for Great Lakes and pitched a scoreless, five-inning relief stint in which he struck out six and didn't issue a walk.

Due to his late signing, he worked in only five games but finished August 3-0, 1.89 and only a rough final start dropped him to 3-1, 3.57. He allowed only five walks and struck out 25 in 22.2 innings and was rewarded with an invitation to the Arizona Instructional League following the season.

Sexton has a four-pitch repertoire and a deceptive delivery and will open the 2008 season at Inland Empire.
