Latest in a series on top Dodger prospects as we count down to the very best. While Bill Shelley is on medical leave, take a look at Prospect #34, LHP Michael Watt.

The Dodgers No. 3 pick in the 2007 Amateur draft, LHP Michael Watt of Capaistrano Valley High, Mission Viejo, CA was the second lefthanded pitcher they selected, after James Adkins of the University of Tennessee was Los Angeles' second pick.

The 6-1, 185-pounder has a good, moving fastball and a good curve ball but his the high selection was a surprise for many who had not rated that highly in pre-draft conversation. He signed for $390,000.

As a high schooler, he is not as polished as Adkins but has a good upside and his performance in his first professional season did not hurt him in the least.

He worked in 10 games, six of them starts, and although he didn't get a decision, recorded a solid 3.00 earned run average over 21 innings, allowing 18 hits and striking out 18 while walking only six.

His record:
