Las Vegas, Inland Empire and Great Lakes got superb starting pitching. Jon Melon sparked Las Vegas to a 4-1 win over Nashville, aided by John-Ford Griffin's two-run homer. Clayton Kershaw was roughed up in Jacksonville's 6-5 loss to Mobile. James Adkins and Josh Bell led Inland Empire to a 2-1 win over Cucamonga and Steven Johnson smothered South Bend 3-0.
