Angels Maul Dodgers 10-3

The Angels scored four in the second and although the Dodgers cut the lead to 4-2 in the fourth, the game quickly went from bad to worse as Anaheim ran off six unanswered runs to win going away. Derek Lowe was hit hard and took the loss.

The won-lost record over the last 20 games goes to a mind-numbing 16-4 in the Angels favor and they haven't lost a series to the Dodgers in eight years. The all-time record at Angel Stadium: Dodgers 11, Angels 24 and the all-time record: Dodgers 28, Angels 37.

By the eighth inning even the Angel fans has lost interest and headed for the beach.

Lowe, starting in place of Brad Penny who complained of a stiff back, was tagged for 10 hits and seven runs, recording his fourth loss against a pair of runs.

Scott Proctor worked an inning and allowed a single run and Yhency Brazoban gave up three doubles and a pair of runs in the seventh but then pitched a scoreless eighth.

The Anaheim got a break in the fourth inning and scored four times and scored four times.

With one out, Torii Hunter walked and Casey Kotchman singled him to third. On a ground ball to James Loney at first, he went to second for the double play but a] either the runner screened Chin-Lung Hu's view of the throw or b] Hu was late covering and it appeared that the latter was the case.

Either way the ball sailed over the base and into center field, Hunter scoring from third

Catcher Mike Napoli, who had 20 hits and eight home runs coming into the game, made it 21 and 9 and suddenly the Angels led 4-0. He would later add another home run and an RBI single.

The four runs put the Dodgers on the defensive immediately and they really didn't have many chances against starter Jared Weaver and three relievers.

Five of the first nine Dodgers struck out before Juan Pierre collected the first Dodgers hit when he beat out a tapper down the first base line in the fourth inning. Russ Martin collected another infield hit with one out. The two pulled a double steal and Jeff Kent singled to left to score both of them.

That ended the Dodger scoring. They collected three hits over the final five innings.

Russell Martin collected a pair of the Dodgers' seven singles.

The loss drops Los Angeles to 22-21 and with Arizona winning, 5 1/2 games behind the Diamondbacks.

Tests For Nomar
Tony Jackson of the Los Angeles Daily News reported that Nomar Garciaparra's rehab has slowed to a walk and additional tests of an undetermined nature will be taken. ...Jason Schmidt will probably make another rehab start for Inland Empire before they consider reactivating him.
