Rumors are swirling around as wildly as they did the final game against Cincinnati and the general theme is the wunderkind Clayton Kershaw will finally get a chance to pitch in The Show against Chicago on Tuesday.

There is no official word from the Dodgers on the matter, but the young lefthander was taken from the game last night (Thursday) after working only one inning (and striking out two).

Obviously, someone will have to be removed from the 25-man roster to make room for him and, also obviously, there is no word if he will be kept on the big league roster after the game.

A number of years ago, a young Ramon Martinez was recalled from Albuquerque to make an emergency start. He came, he pitched a shutout, and he returned to Albuquerque.

The Dodgers have used the young man sparingly because of his age (just turned 20), and it would seem that they were planning to move him up later in the season and didn't want him to have a tired arm as the team moves into the stretch run.

Kershaw has pitched very well, but with little run support, and is yet to have a victory for the Double-A Jacksonville team. He has worked in 10 games, nine of them as a starter and has an 0-3 record. His Line: w-l era gm gs inn h bb so whip 0-3 2.28 10 9 43.1 32 15 47 1.08
