After only a month with the Dodgers, Manny Ramirez has been named the Sharp Presents National League Player of the Month for August the National League announced.
The right-handed slugger batted .415 (44-for-106), with seven doubles, nine home runs, 15 RBI and 21 runs scored in August.
He led the N.L. in batting average and ranks second in its, tied for second in home runs and was third in RBI.
The 36-year-old left fielder recorded a ht in 24 of 29 games played, including 12 multi-hit performances. Ramirez collected two its on seven occasions, had a pair of three-hit games and three four-hit games. (on August 3 vs Arizona and August 29 and 30 vs Arizona).
The 12-time All-Star homered in consecutive games August 2 and 3 vs Arizona and on August 6 and 7 at St. Louis.
On August 30 at Arizona, Ramirez recorded the 51st multi-home run game of his career with two home runs and also collected his 500th career double.
The Santo Domingo native collected 10-,multi-RBI contests during he month, including eight two-RBI games and two three-RBI performances.
Ramirez is hitting .326 (155-fior-476) on the season with 30 home runs and 97 RBI. Since being traded to the Dodgers, ramirez is batting .414 (46-for-111) with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 31 games played.
This marks the fifth monthly award of his career (May 1995 and April 1999 with Cleveland; April 2001 and September 2002 with Boston.
Other players receiving votes were Ty Wiggington (.379, 12 HR, 26 RBI) of the Astros; Albert Pujols (.398, 8 HR, 22 RBI) of the Cardinals; Mike Cameron (.360, 9 HR, 22 RBI of Milwaukee; Mark DeRosa (.378, 7 HR, 24 RBI) of the Cubs and Martin Prado (.432, 32 hits, nine doubles) of the Braves.
Sharp AQUOS is the "Official High-Definition Television of Major League Baseball." Manny will receive a specially designed trophy to mark his achievements.
