Six-Run First Boosts Ogden to 6-4 Win

Brian Cavazos-Galvez

Home runs by Brian Cavazos-Galvez and Gorman Erickson helped Ogden score six in the first and top Casper 6-4. Starter Jose Dominguez worked five shutout innings and the Dominican Dodgers had to fight off a ninth inning rally to top the Marlins 5-3. The Arizona Dodgers were not scheduled.

Ogden Breaks Slump, Taps Ghosts 6-4
The Raptors broke out of an offensive funk, scoring six times in the first inning and then holding on to win 6-4. Outfielder Brian Cavazos-Galvez launched a three-run home run (#1) to right field and Gorman Erickson belted a two-run shot (#1) as part of the outburst against Casper starter Kyle Hancock.

Hancock, a former third-round pick in 2005 by the Colorado Rockies, was making his second start in professional baseball after leaving the game for four years. He settled in after the first and combining with two Ghost relievers to shut the Raptors out over the final seven innings.

Ogden starter Elisaul Pimentel (1-0) was up to the task and preserved the win over his six innings, allowing a pair of runs on six hits while striking out six.

In his second start of the year, Pimentel picked up his first victory of the year. Rookie J.B. Paxton finished the final 3.0 innings to earn his second save.

The Raptors collected an even dozen hits and moved to 3-4 on the season.

Rafael Ynoa, Austin Yount, Galvez and Chris Jacobs each had a pair of hits. Galvez (3) and Erickson (2) recorded the lion's share of the runs batted in.

The Raptors will try to climb to .500 mark for the first time in 2009 when they host the Orem Owlz at Lindquist Field tonight. The Raptors and Owlz, who met in the first four games of the season, will play four times this week and then will not meet again until September.

DSL Dodgers Top Marlins 5-3
The Dominican Dodgers got a scare but beat off a ninth inning rally to drop the Marlins 5-3. Reliever Joel Lima was tagged with a pair of singles and a pair of triples in the ninth inning but retired the final two Marlins with a runner at third base to preserve the win.
