Jerry Sands ... game-winning double

Jerry Sands doubled to score Lenell McGee from first base with the winning run in the bottom of the eleventh inning, as Ogden fought back to drop Orem 6-5. The Arizona Dodgers, down 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, used two RBIs by Johan Garcia, Casio Grider and Ramon Jean to score six times. The Dominican Dodgers shut out the Orioles/Brewers 5-0 behind Arismendy Ozoria.

Pesky Ogden Outlasts Orem
Jerry Sands doubled to score Lenell McGee from first base with the winning run in the bottom of the eleventh inning, as Ogden fought back to drop Orem 6-5.

Raptors starter Edwin Contreras was tagged with five runs, four earned, in just 3.0 innings of work, but four Raptor reliever combined to hold the Owlz scoreless over the final 8.0 frames. Nick Gaudi (1-1, #22 2009) threw a 1-2-3 top of the eleventh for the win.

The Raptors scored in the first inning but then fell behind 5-1 in the fourth inning before they began their long battle back. They scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, seventh and last of the ninth to take the game into extra innings.

Left-fielder Angelo Songco (#5) doubled in Rafael Ynoa, who had lived on an error, in the first inning. Then trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Sands clouted a solo home run. In the fifth, Gorman Erickson lived on an error, then scored on Ynoa's double.

Brian Cavazos-Galvez homered (HR #2, #13) on a drive to center field in the seventh and Songco sent the game to extra innings with his a two-out, with game-tying homer to right field in the bottom of the ninth and the third round-tripper of the game for the Raptors.

In the bottom of the eleventh, Lenell McGee reached on an infield single. Then with one out, Sands hit his game winner. He finished with three hits, including the home run, his fourth.

The teams have now split the first two games of a four game series that shifts venues tonight, when the teams meet in Orem.

Big Inning Boosts AZ Dodgers
The Arizona Rookie League Dodgers, down 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, used two RBIs by Johan Garcia (#8), Casio Grider (#15) and Ramon Jean to score six times. They held on to earn a 6-4 win over the East Division-leading Angels.

The win moved them to within one game of the West Division-leading Rangers.

Dan Danielson started for the Dodgers and was tagged for six hits and three runs, two of them earned, before leaving in the fifth inning. Bolivar Medina protected the lead despite another unearned run and claimed the win.

The Dodgers got a single in the first by Nick Akins (#20) and another Akins hit in the fourth before the big fifth inning.

Travis Vetters, Pedro Tavarez and Chris Henderson (#22) walked to open the inning. Garcia cut the deficit to 3-2 with a single to left. Austin King (#32) walked before Grider ripped a double to left, putting the Dodgers in the lead for the first time, 4-3. Jean's two-run single closed out the Dodgers scoring.

Henderson singled in the sixth for the final Dodgers hit.

Akins had the only multiple-hit game.

DSL Dodgers Win Shutout
The Dominican Dodgers shut out the combined Orioles/Brewers 5-0 for the second time this season. Arismendy Ozoria (2-0) earned the win, allowing two hits over five innings. Carlos De Aza added three shutout innings and Jose Mateo closed the game out with a perfect ninth.

The Dodgers scored the only run they needed in the first inning on Ronny Lugo's double that scored Charlie Mirabal, who was on with a walk. Jose Capellan singled, Carlos Mercedes doubled and Mirabal tripled for two more in the second.

Single runs scored in the fifth, on a throwing error, and the sixth on a passed ball.

The Dodgers five hits were evenly distributed among five players.
