Arizona, Dominican Dodgers Post Wins

Elisaul Pimentel

The youngest in the Dodgers' system, the Arizona and Dominican teams, both posted wins; Arizona topping the Royals 5-1 behind the near-perfect pitching of Carl Webster, Brian Akin and Beyker Fructuoso. Then Elisaul Pimentel, Fredy Quintero and Daigoro Rondon guided the Dominicans to a 4-1 win over the Cubs. Ogden lost a 3-2 squeaker to Helena.

Helena Trips Raptors 3-2
Helena squeaked by Ogden to take the third game in a four-game series and holds a 2-1 margin going into the final game tonight. The Raptors slipped to 4-5 in the second half with the loss.

The Raptors got on the board first in the top of the fourth inning, but missed an opportunity for more. Ogden loaded the bases with nobody out against Andre Lamontagne (2-1), but could get only one run on Nick Akins' RBI fielder's choice.

The Brewers got that run back in the fourth against Ogden starter Elisaul Pimentel (3-3), then rallied for two more in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead. Pimentel worked 4.2 before Fredy Quintero took over.

The Raptors closed within one when Chris Jacobs followed Akins' seventh-inning double with an RBI single to right-field, but that ended the scoring.

The teams wrap up their four-game series tonight with Matt Magill scheduled to start for Ogden.

Solid Pitching Leads AZ Dodgers to Win
Carl Webster, Brian Akin (1-0) and Beyker Fructuoso allowed only three hits and a single run (unearned) as the Dodgers dropped the Royals 5-1.

After both clubs scored a run in the first inning, the game remained just that way into the seventh when the Dodgers ran up four unanswered runs to claim the win, their fifth of the second half against 10 losses.

Webster, after allowing singled to the first two Royals batters and the unearned run in the first inning, didn't allow a hit the rest of the way but left the game after five in a 1-1 tie.

Casio Grider singled and stole second to lead off the game and came around on Stetson Banks' single and a sac fly by Christ Henderson.

An error and Austin King's first home run of the season broke the tie in the seventh. Banks was hit by a pitch in the eighth and came across on a single by Garrett Green.

The final run came in the ninth after Jeff Hunt walked, King doubled and Steve Cilladi singled to score one but Cilladi was out attempting to stretch the hit into a double.

Beyker Fructuoso worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to nail down the win.

DSL Dodgers Stump Cubs 4-1
Behind the strong pitching of Gus Gomez, Florencio Bustillos (4-2) and Carlos De Aza, who combined to hold the Cubs2 to six hits, the Dominican Dodgers collected a 5-1 win.

Gomez was tagged with an unearned run in the second inning and left after four having allowed two his and having struck out three. However, he trailed 1-0.

Bustillos was near perfect, giving up a single hit and fanning six over the next four innings to earn the win. De Aza picked up his first save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning that included two strikeouts.

The Dodgers broke the tie in the sixth inning when Wilner Charles singled with one out and moved to third on a wild pickoff attempt at first base. Alexis Aguilar singled him in for a 2-1 lead and then scored himself on Enlly Morales' single.

They added one more in the seventh on an RBI double by José Capellan and the fifth run in the ninth came across on Mirabal's single.

Aguilar singled twice and knocked in a run to lead the Dodgers offense. The win was the 27th of the season against 37 losses.
