Blake DeWitt got his sixth, and final, promotion to Los Angeles this year and Chin-Lung Hu was also recalled for he final 18 games of the season. It was the first time Hu was called up this season after playing 77 games with the Dodgers in 2007 and 2008.
DeWitt, who was the surprise of the 2008 season when he won the opening day spot at third base when both Nomar Garciaparra and Andy LaRoche went down with injuries during the same spring training game.
He spent 117 games in the Major Leagues hitting .264 with nine home runs and 52 runs batted in.
Over 23 scattered games his year with the Dodgers batted .156 with a homer and an RBI. He never really got his stroke in Albuquerque, batting .256 with 21 doubles, seven homers and 47 RBIs in 92 games but with more walks (48) than strikeouts (44) while playing both second and third base.
"I've tried to make the best of it," said DeWitt, who found himself behind veterans Casey Blake, Orlando Hudson and Ronnie Belliard in 2009. "It hasn't been a great year, but I don't feel I've struggled that badly. I did OK. Just not what I'd like to accomplish."
DeWitt will play both second and third for Licey in the Dominican Winter League after the season.
Chin-Lung Hu
Hu, who has a major league glove at shortstop, batted .294 with 21 doubles, six homers, and 53 RBIs in 130 regular-season games with Albuquerque this season. He was brief action with the Dodgers in 2007 and when Rafael Furcal went down with a bad back in 2008, he had a 65-game trial at short during which time he could manage only a .181 average with four extra base hits and nine runs batted in.
The Dodgers went with veteran backup shortstop Juan Castro after he had a strong spring training.
