The Dodgers put the Pirates away early, winning 8-2 before a quiet group of 13,147 in beautiful PNC Park. Hiroki Kuroda won his ninth game, Manny Ramirez and James Loney shared five runs batted in, Juan Pierre launched a rare home run and both Takashi Saito and Brad Penny tried out their injured arms with mixed results. Arizona topped San Francisco so the Dodgers' magic number slipped to nine.
