The Dodgers buried San Diego under a 17-hit attack that produced a 12-4 win, and coupled with a 4-2 victory in St. Louis by the Cardinals over the Diamondbacks, L. A. clinched at least a tie for the National League West Championship. Twenty-year-old Clayton Kershaw earned his fifth win of the season and Nomar Garciaparra and Manny Ramirez banged home runs.
