Notes

-Sands led the charge on offense with 2 hits and is now 5 for his last 16. Alex Castellanos also singled and drew another walk, giving him 6 in 8 games. Scott Van Slyke singled and has hit safely in 7 of his 8 games.

-Aaron Miller had his best start in quite some time, going 5 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 10. I saw some of his start on MiLB.tv and he wasn't overpowering with the fastball but located the ball well and hitters had problems making good contact. Red Patterson and Shawn Tolleson combined with Miller to produce a complete game, 1-hit shutout. Tolleson struck out the side in the 9th. Kyle Russell hit his first homer of the year and has gone a whole 2 games without striking out.

-Garrett Gould didn't fare as well as his fellow 2009 draftee, walking 5 in the 3.2 innings. He only allowed one run, which was unearned and did strike out 5 with 6 groundouts and no flyouts. Chris O'Brien continues to hit, with his average now sitting at .400.

-The Loons' win streak ends at 2. Brandon Martinez allowed 5 runs in 5 innings. Joe Winker homered for the first time this season and Scott Schebler collected his 4th double. In fact, the 4 doubles for Schebler account for all his hits this season and he's struck out 10 times in 7 games. James Baldwin walked, which is the first time he's reached base safely this season.
