-The Topes were limited to just 1 run, a Fedex solo blast, without the help of rehabbing Matt Kemp or Juan Rivera. Kemp was reinstated by the Dodgers today, while Rivera simply got a day off. Castellanos came back from a day of rest to go 0 for 4, while BCG went 0 for 3. Will Savage took the loss, allowing 4 runs over 7 innings. Michael Antonini, who was on the Dodgers' active roster for a single day, pitched a scoreless 8th for the Topes.
-Chattanooga broke out offensively, clubbing 3 home runs and plating 7 runs in the first 2 innings. Wise, Russell and Nick Buss all went yard. Luis Nunez collected a pair of doubles, while Smith added his 4th stolen base in the last 3 games. Pedro Baez drew his 18th walk, raising his OBP to a strong .354.
-Chris Reed was lifted after just 4 innings but dominated, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out half a dozen. Freddie Cabrera allowed 2 in the 5th, but the Quakes would come back with a run in the 6th to tie and and 3 in the 7th to put Rancho ahead for good. Bobby Coyle made his 2012 debut, collecting 2 hits and scoring a run.
-Another dramatic finish for Great Lakes, which seems to be expected these days. Trailing 5-2 in the 9th, Angelo Songco and O'Koyea Dickson drew walks to start the bottom of the 9th. Scott Schebler, who'd already doubled in the first, smacked a two-bagger to left score Songco, send Dickson to third and place himself, the tying run, in scoring position. Joe Winker's single would plate Dickson and a wide throw on a double play attempt brought Schebler in to tie the game. In the bottom of the 10th, Songco and Dickson again reached, this time on errors. A wild pitch on a strikeout of Schebler sent the runners to second and third. After Winker was intentionally walked, Jesse Bosnik came up with a single to right to win the game.
